Shop TV for auto repair shops: a live bay board and lobby screen
Updated . In the Core plan and above.
A wall display for your shop. Mechanics look up and see what is in the bays, what is late, what is waiting and the day's schedule. Nobody has to ask the front counter.
What it does
A Shop TV is view-only. Nobody touches it. Technicians do their work in the technician workspace, and the TV shows the result. You can have more than one TV, and each one has its own view.
There are four screens: a bay board with a tile for each technician, a needs-attention screen with big counts, today's schedule, and a tech queue. Show one screen, or rotate through several.
Turn on customer-facing for a lobby TV. It shows only the vehicle, the status and the promised time. A Shop TV never shows prices, totals, phone numbers, emails, addresses, notes, VINs, plates or customers' last names.
How it works
- 1
Open the TV address
On the TV's browser, open app.gearboxly.com/tv. It shows a 6-digit code.
- 2
Pair it
An owner or manager goes to Settings, then Shop TVs, then Add a TV. Type the code, name the TV and choose its screens.
- 3
Save
The TV pairs within a few seconds. Repeat for each TV.
Questions shops ask
What do I need to set one up?
A screen with a web browser, such as a smart TV or a streaming stick, a Wi-Fi connection, a way to type a short address once, and an owner or manager sign-in. Only owners and managers can add a TV.
Which plans include the Shop TV?
Shop TV is included on every plan, as long as your shop's account is active, whether that is a trial or a paid plan.
What does a customer-facing TV show?
Only the vehicle, the status and the promised time. It hides names, repair order numbers, technicians, jobs and timers.
How often does it update?
About every 7 seconds. If the network drops, it shows Reconnecting and keeps the last picture on screen until it is back.
